| At Left: Wide view of left side of loom. The rockers are free-standing, and are positioned on the base of the loom within the confines of the loom frame. At Right: Detailed view of cloth beam brake system. The wooden pawl and ratchet are positioned outside the loom frame, so as not to restrict the movement of the beater leg.

This loom was purchased years ago at the Gyp Joint Antique Shop in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. The owner was told that the loom came from the nearby Land-Between-the-Lakes area, from the home of one of the families displaced by the flooding. The Land-Between-the-Lakes area was created during the 1930s-1940s, when both the Tennessee and the Cumberland Rivers were dammed and flooded during the creation of Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley, respectively. |
