At Left: Wide view of front-right side of loom. The shedding support system is visible, as well as the treadles. At Right: Detail of rocker, showing pointed leg extension and V-shaped receptacle on the base of the loom. The receptacle holds the leg in place while the rocker is in motion. This loom is refered to as the "Bonus Loom." When the owner finished putting together the old hanging beater loom she had purchased at a farm auction, she found she had parts left over -- enough parts to make this "bonus" loom. The second loom was, however, missing several parts (mainly the shedding system), so it was taken to a shop in North Carolina to be restored. Unfortunately, the shop burned down while the loom was there, so now only these photographs remain. |
