| At Left: Wide view of right side of loom. The counterbalanced shedding system can accomodate four shafts. The loom has large rockers, which are kept in place on the base of the loom with wooden strips. The brake system is controlled by a brake stick in the warp beam and a wooden pawl and ratchet on the cloth beam (detail at right). Little background information is available on this loom, other than it is thought to have originated in southern Indiana. Link to museum website: http://www.connerprairie.org |
