Left: Wide view of front-left side of loom. Loom frame shows
signs of several major alterations; the primary being the relocation of
the cloth beam, which appears to have been raised about six
inches. At right: detailed view of rocker beater. The rockers may have originally rested on less secure wooden platforms attached to the loom frame with wooden pegs (note holes in the lower portion of loom side rails). The rockers are kept in place on the platforms by two metal rocker straps. Little background information is available, on the loom, other than it was located in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and purchased by a university art professor intending to add art weaving to his artistic skills. He brought it back to Siloam Springs, but never got around to mastering it. He donated it to the museum in 1990. |
