loom. At Right: Detail view of rocker. Rockers appear to be kept in place on base of loom with thin flexible wooden strips. This loom was donated to the Discovery
Park of America, by a woman who discovered it in the basement of her
parents home near Paducah, KY. The home was being cleared of its
contents after the sale of the house. The donor's father had rescued the loom from an old barn that
was going to be torn down. The property belonged to an
uncle, who's family had come from Germany and settled in the area many
years before. No background information on the loom is available. Discovery Park of America is a museum, park and garden located in Union City, Tennessee. It features exhibits and activities on local history, nature, military history, art and science. |
